On Saturday, 7 July, the police found the dead body of a woman and her 2-year-old daughter in a house in Kurka village, Maabtli region, Afrin city.
After investigations, it was confirmed that the woman filed a complaint about the kidnapping of her daughter and grand daughter by an unknown man on 16 April to the so-called Free Police in Azaz city. After that, two people who were also complicit in the crime were arrested while the mastermind is still on the run. The two men confessed to raping and suffocating the woman to death, as well as the killing of her daughter as a method for blackmailing and revenge.
Such a a harrowing crime sparks extreme fears and concerns about the state of insecurity that is prevalent in the countryside of Aleppo, where the factions in control care about nothing but material benefits.
