Civilians who do not pay bribes to Assad’s forces are being denied access to Aleppo city

An Aleppo24 correspondent confirmed on Saturday that Assad’s forces have opened a crossing between their held areas in Aleppo city and the last remaining areas under YPG control in northern Aleppo.  The crossing is located near the Infantry Division and Aleppo Central Prison.

According to the correspondent, people who are registered at regime-run municipalities are the only ones being allowed to use the crossing, while many locals from Afrin and neighboring areas have been denied access to Aleppo city on the excuse that the regime is restricting the residency in the city to those who were born in it.

However, those paying bribes to Assad’s forces and officials are allowed to enter and stay in the city, which is not the case for those who do not.

Thousands of displaced families from Afrin region are still sleeping in the open and facing severe humanitarian conditions in the areas of Tel Rifaat, Deer Jamal, Faqeen and other areas in northern Aleppo as they are being prevented from entering Aleppo or returning to their homes in Afrin city.
